Meet Dr. Behr
Dr. Alice S. Behr graduated Magna Cum Laude from New York Chiropractic College in 1986. A Doctorate of Chiropractic provided the perfect way to help people using natural hands on approach with the complement of her deep knowledge of nutrition from her B.S. in Biochemistry. An interest in biomechanics and sports injuries began at an early age as she was a competitive speed skater during her teen years.
Dr. Behr began her practice in New York City in 1987 on the Upper West Side, where she practiced for two years. It is here that she began working with modern and ballet dancers, often taking care of an entire company. In 1989 she moved her practice to the Gramercy/Stuyvesant area which is where she has been for the past 25 years.
She specializes in wellness care for clients of all ages. This includes athletic, pediatric, pregnancy, sports and dance injuries and senior care. Utilizing a variety of techniques to address the spine, extremities, muscles, nerves and soft tissue she designs a protocol individual to each client’s needs.
In addition, for those who want a deeper approach to good health Dr. Behr is also a health coach and nutrition counselor. She uses a holistic approach to evaluating blood tests and specific metabolic health assessment tools to help clients navigate food, nutrition and exercise choices that would improve their health.
Dr. Behr is an author who writes her Health Views column for the local community Town and Village paper since 1990.
Post graduate studies and interests include: nutrition, hormonal health, ergonomics, biochemistry of inflammation and aging (inflamm-aging), exercise, posture, soft tissue release techniques, cranial techniques, cold laser applications for repetitive stress and athletic injuries (carpal tunnel/ plantar fascitis).
